The girl looked upon the battle beneath her. Below, the once beautiful valley was slowly being tainted by the scarlet blood flooding from the gaping wounds in the fighters. Despite the many gashes that streaked their battered bodies, the people kept fighting. They weren't fighting for their utopia anymore, they were fighting for survival. Each person as unwilling to simply give up as the next.

The girl watched this scene with tears pouring from her eyes. This entire thing had been her fault. She lead them to what she thought was utopia, but instead doomed their very lives. She looked upon the grass beneath the fighter's feet. Once the greenest grass they had ever seen, it was now stained red. There was not a speck of green left in the entire valley. Even the trees that had been encircling the valley floor were ablaze in fierce flames, creating a circle of fire around the opponents. Even if they were to stop fighting now, there was no escape. They had trapped themselves in their greed. Each wanting the utopia for themselves, they had turned against each other.

Friends. Family. Those words held no meaning in this place. Everyone was one their own, and they were all enemies. People teamed up to take down others only to attack each other when they were finished. Friends instantly turned on each other, granting no mercy. As soon as you found yourself on the losing side, you were finished. Your blood joining those already on the ground, mixing into one puddle. People were ripped apart by their own relatives, tearing apart the very fabric of their families.

From the moment they arrived in the valley, they were lost, and she had brought it on. She had led them here, and taken them to the doorway to utopia, to paradise. Instead of finding it however, they were given a message.

“Only one may enter into the utopia.”

They had not hesitated to decide that each of them was most deserving of paradise. From mutters to shouts, the situation grew worse. People started to turn on each other, saying they were unworthy. Within minutes, they were fighting. Without proper weapons, they tore into each other with tooth and nail. They were no longer human. They had been turned into vicious animals. No longer thinking straight, they attacked each other. They couldn't even recognize who they were fighting anymore. Within minutes, it didn't matter who they were anymore as their features had been disfigured by the many wounds they had been inflicted with. Insanity overtook all sense, and they were sent spiraling into hell as their bodies were torn apart.

It didn't matter how injured a person became, as long as they were alive, they stood back up despite the intense pain and continued to fight. Those unfortunate enough to become trapped on the ground were beaten without mercy. Their screams echoed throughout they valley.

They started out with about fifty people, not including the girl. Within the first five minutes, that number had been halved. Those left had to scramble over the bodies littering the ground to continue fighting and they were soon bathed in the blood of their opponents they had taken down. Soon that number was again halved, the survivors becoming less human with every drop of blood spilled.

It wasn't long until they were down to about five people, although it was hard to tell with all of the bodies piled around. One was ripped in half, the man's screams cut short as the head was smashed. Another bled to death, the hundreds of wounds she had sustained finally running out of blood to spill. A third was beaten to death by a crazed man before he too collapsed into a puddle of blood.

Then there were only two left. They faced off in the middle of the valley, blood seeping from gashes around their body. Then, in one final attack, they jumped at each other and tore out each others throats, simultaneously ending each others lives.

The girl stared tearfully down at the carnage below her. She had been sent to them to bring them to paradise, but instead she had brought them to their end. The fire from the trees jumped to the grass and slowly enveloped the valley and burned all in its way. The only thing visible was the gate of Utopia. Then the flames disappeared and the valley was restored. The only the gate remained.

The girl turned away, eyes dry and memories blank, to take more people to Utopia.
